Anders is back! The Swedish-born world traveler and tireless artist who landed in — where else? — New Orleans 40 years ago, has become stitched into the musical landscape there. As a young man he loved everything from Bach to Black Sabbath, Robert Johnson to Joni Mitchell. The music, the poetry, the world was there for the exploring. But of all the genres he loved, it was the blues that resonated the most. “Blues connected everything together for me. The early rock, the R&B, the jazz, the singer-songwriters. Blues was like a thread running through everything."
Anders is a prolific, thoughtful artist — and brilliant guitarist — who recently released his 17th album, Picasso’s Village. It’s a thematic collection of songs that reflect on a myriad of topics — technology, politics, meditation, the music biz and Dr. John, to name a few. It’s a deftly realized album.
Following the 12 Steps have been Ander’s way of life for many years. Being sober and keeping things on an even keel is the work he undertakes to counter the chaos of the touring life. “When I’m sleeping in 140 different beds a year, eating unhealthy foods, the meditation is what keeps me centered. Holding myself in that sacred space for a while is what makes it possible for me to do all this.”
Anders, it’s always an honor to host you. We are so grateful you keep returning to play for us in the mountains.
