The Revivalist’s front man and accomplished singer-songwriter, David Shaw, is making his first solo appearance in Telluride, and we’re beyond stoked. The band he co-founded in New Orleans is known for its soul-steeped alt-rock vibe. They scored a monster hit with Wish I Knew You in 2016. David Shaw, of course, is the voice that gives the band’s songs their passion and intimacy.
As a solo artist, David’s new work retains that musical immediacy and lyrically adroit poeticism. His first solo album, David Shaw, was a body of work that included songs he’d written when he was working with The Revivalists, but felt they would be better suited to a leaner, more personal sound. It’s a beautiful record that features keyboard work from Neal Francis (who absolutely wowed us last year). His latest is Take A Look Inside, an album influenced by his experience as a father. Front and center is his beautiful voice and nimble guitar and piano work.
Fifteen years of being the frontman for a rock juggernaut has honed David’s chops. Radiating swagger and confidence, his live shows are exciting and dynamic. Playing off the audience is part of what makes a David Shaw gig so much fun. “It’s such an amazing symbiotic relationship in that way where the crowd plugs in, and I plug right back into them, and it’s fireworks.”
