Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal are going to dish up the gutsy soul music you need, and it’s only available in one size – colossal.
This powerhouse band out of Lincoln, Nebraska, is a horns-in-your-face, passionate-vocals-in-your-marrow situation. These cats were born from the blues but have found their comfort zone in funkified soul. Josh is the front man and keyboard player. His voice is a no-holding-back commitment to the song. Joining him are fellow Lincoln musicians Myles Jasnowski (guitar), Mike Keeling (bass), James Cuato (saxophone) Blake DeForest (trumpet), and Matt Arbeiter (drums). Their influences comprise a spicy gumbo of Stax, Muscle Shoals, Motown and NOLA. The result of their alchemy is sweaty dancefloors wherever they play.
The band’s sound really got its groove on in 2020 with the fruitful partnership of The New Mastersounds’ guitar great, Eddie Roberts, who, with their album Natural Born Hustler, on Robert’s Color Red label, help commit the band’s live sound to wax.
