There’s soul and then there’s Bayou soul. With a voice that’s warm and powerful and nuanced, Mr. Broussard’s songs evoke the classic sounds of soul and R&B, laced with funk, or crunched up with rock. It’s a mighty sound he’s been nurturing since his early years in Lafayette, Louisiana where his father, Ted Broussard, the Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist with The Boogie Kings, recognized the talent in his soulful son. Since that solid foundation was laid, Marc’s released a string of captivating albums that celebrate the R&B-soul music that perfectly suits his seasoned vocals.
Marc has dedicated himself to philanthropic causes and in 2015 established Save Our Soul, a series of recordings whose profits go to organizations such as Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation, Guitars Over Guns, and the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. The S.O.S. #4, released in 2023, features Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith and is chock full of the tastiest blues covers you’ll ever hear.
