The Artist Behind The Festival Poster: Katie Lin
The artist behind the 2016 Telluride Blues & Brews Festival poster is Katie Lin. Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 1972 and immigrated to the United States in 1989, Lin's fascination with art began when she was a young child. She studied commercial art when she was 15 years old and went on to major in Fine Arts in college.
These days, Katie spends her days painting all over the city of New Orleans. Her artwork is made up of vibrant colors depicting lively, urban jazz scenes. You can find Lin's artwork displayed in the city's French Quarter at Jackson Square nearly every weekend. Even though she paints a wide variety of subject matter, music is a common theme that always seems to find its way into her pieces, from sidewalks made out of piano keys to geometric guitars woven into her abstract art.
See for yourself! Check out the original canvas painting that became the official poster art during the Festival weekend from 2:00 - 4:00 pm daily at the merchandise tent. To see more of Katie's work, please click here.
