Blues and Brews in the Pit: An AH Haa Photography Workshop

Learn how to capture festival artist photos up close and personal in the festival photo pit for the Ah Haa school inspired Photography Workshop: Blues & Brews in the Pit with veteran Blues and Brews festival photographer BARRY BRECHEISEN.

Ever wonder how they get those great photos in the pages of Rolling Stone? Become a rock ‘n’ roll photographer for the weekend at this year’s 20th annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival. Join veteran rock ‘n’ roll photographer Barry Brecheisen in the pit, to capture up-close-and-personal images of some of the hottest musical acts out there today. This year’s festival headliners include The Black Crowes, Jim James, Melissa Etheridge, Gary Clark Jr., John Hiatt, and Booker T. Jones, among many other HOT musicians. Through an introductory workshop and morning critiques, students will learn how to use their cameras to make the artists every bit the rock stars they are, one shot at a time. The workshop includes daily time in the photo pit, access to the festival grounds, and classroom and critiques at the Ah Haa School. This is a completely unique and exciting opportunity for photographers to get a chance to rub shoulders with the pros and learn from one in action.

Note: Students should have a basic working knowledge of their SLR digital cameras. For best shooting results, Barry recommends two lenses: 24-70 mm and 70-200 mm. A laptop with photo editing software is also recommended and preferred in assisting for next day reviews, as well as a jump drive to store and share your selects. The course fee includes a full festival pass. Approximate hours: Thurs., 1:30-5pm at Ah Haa; Sat/Sun critique, 10 am. Festival shooting hours, 12-9 pm.
