Zach Person is on a mission, and that is to deliver the blues to whole new generation of music fans. We are confident he will succeed. Following the tragic death of his father, when he expressed an interest in the guitar, his mother got one for him. Learning to play was just what the grieving young man needed. Not only did he channel his emotions through the instrument, he became really, really good. So good that he found himself onstage on American Idol in 2016, where he blew the judges away with an incendiary version of Gary Clark Jr,’s Next Door Neighbor Blues. By the next year he was onstage with none other than Buddy Guy and sharing bills with Anderson .Paak and the Foo Fighters. His 2021 eponymous record lays out his influences - “I consider myself a bluesman, of sorts, that’s always going to be at the core…,” Zach told Guitar Player magazine. “I like to pull aspects of all the music I love: fat 808 drumbeats of hip-hop … timelessness of Americana and country … complex chords of neo-soul.” This is next-generation blues, folks. The future looks bright.
