Sir Woman is Kelsey Wilson, one of the fresh new acts we’re stoked to have on our lineup. And we do mean SO fresh. Formerly of Austin-based Wild Child, Kelsey has struck out on her own, diving whole-heartedly into her wondrous take on soul, R&B and gospel sounds. Her music percolates and bounces even as she touches on the longing that these heart-on-the-sleeve genres are known for. She radiates love and positivity.

Her influences are evident on her latest record If It All Works Out, the first half of a staggered double album release. “It was all the records from the 70s that I loved listening to growing up,” says Wilson. “I got to emulate and do my version.” You can hear the Aretha, the Otis Redding, the Nina Simone and Billy Preston in every note.

The second of the two releases, due out in May, is If It Doesn’t, a group of songs she wrote when she was grappling with two, devastating losses. Even as she grieved, the songs on If It Doesn’t are written to inspire when life’s curveballs become overwhelming.

The world is taking note of Sir Woman. She nabbed the 2023 Austin Music Awards Artist of the Year and has gotten glowing reviews in esteemed music magazines. We just know she’ll make your playlist, too.
