2017 Bal De Maison: Opening Celebration

Thursday, September 14 | The Record Company | Sheridan Opera House

The opening celebration for the 2017 Telluride Blues & Brews Festival features the phenomenal LA-based three-piece band, The Record Company. Held at the historic Sheridan Opera House on Thursday, September 14, the Bal de Maison is the perfect way to kick off the festival weekend. The doors open at 8:30 pm and the show starts at 9:00 pm. Tickets are on sale now and very limited (less than 50 tickets left).

History

The phrase Bal de Maison originated from dances held at someone’s house - typically in the front room. These dances were usually announced by the host of the party simply yelling from his or her porch to the neighbors. Word would sometimes travel up to 40 miles. The Bal de Maison opening celebration has been a part of our festival tradition for over 10 years. So here's our shout out - spread the word about the Bal de Maison and let’s have a dance party to start the weekend!

The Record Company

They’ve rocked your world before (Telluride Blues & Brews Festival 2014), and we just had to have them play for us again. The Record Company is guitarist Chris Vos, Alex Stiff on bass, and drummer Marc Cazorla. In their muscular, not-kidding-around approach to playing, you’ll hear a searing amalgam of sounds that call on their influences – John Lee Hooker, Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters – updated with contemporary rock muscle. Since their TBBF debut, they made Rolling Stone’s 2016 "10 New Artists You Need To Know" list, were nominated for the 2017 Grammy Awards Best Contemporary Blues Album for "Give It Back To You", and toured Europe with Blackberry Smoke. These LA-based gents have opened up for acts as diverse as Grace Potter, Social Distortion and Buddy Guy. They’re phenomenal, in demand and lucky for us, back in the mountains. Please note, VIP and Juke Joint passes are not valid for show entry, this is a separate ticket.
